cartagena is known as colombia’s most romantic city. a place of beauty, history, and culture with its signature cobblestone streets and scents of hibiscus, bougainvillea, and fresh bread baking just around the corner. this bewitching city is the destination for the most romantic love affair - the one you have with yourself.

famous for its historic walled city, turquoise waters, and flourishing food, music, and arts scene. we hosted our first ever matria trip here in 2018 and cannot wait to go back with you!
some of the schedule
culinary experiences: local street food, elevated colombian cooking, homestyle meals, experimental cocktails. we’ll always offer a mix of high and low so you can experience the best of colombia, which is sometimes an unplanned arepa de huevo after a night out.
beach days: lounge on the pristine beaches of the rosario islands, an archipelago off the coast of cartagena. we’ll take an hour private boat ride to our island, where we’ll spend the night. massages, yoga class, and tan included (and so much more.)
immerse into history and culture: we’ll visit la boquilla, a historic afro-caribbean fishing village with our private guide. we’ll also take a private tour of cartagena’s famed walled city to learn about pirates, ports, and colombia’s rich afro-caribbean heritage. and there’s no way we’re missing getsemani, cartagena’s artistic, rebellious neighborhood right across from the walled city.
real community: a matria experience is nothing without incredible people. prepare to add 12 new besties to your life.
and more: a private boat tour through the islands to swim in the open ocean, exploring an abandoned, decades-old shipwreck, dance classes, nights out, rooftop dinners, one of a kind shopping, art galleries, time to take in cartagena on your own… and more. we don’t want to give away all the surprises.

the walled city
a UNESCO world heritage site, cartagena’s historic walled city is one of the best preserved examples of colonial architecture in the americas. think cobblestone streets, thick wooden doors, colorful homes, and massive stone walls built to keep pirates at bay, quite literally. we’ve booked over half of townhouse, a gorgeous boutique hotel that pays fair wages, is a waste free operation (more than 70% diverted from landfill), employs local talent, and even has a michelin guide executive chef, pedro mosqueda.

islas del rosario
the rosario islands are a breathtaking archipelago off the coast of cartagena, just an hour away from the city by boat. they contain one of colombia’s most important coral reef systems, white sand beaches, and crystal clear turquoise waters. we have a few cabins at islabela, an eco-friendly hotel that boasts massages, an open-air restaurant, and warm service so you can truly disconnect and enjoy cartagena’s natural beauty.

what is actually included?
we really do mean all-inclusive. all meals and snacks, hotels, transportation inside of colombia, gratuities, taxes, activities, and even a donation to a local non-profit!
how do the flights work?
once you sign up, we’ll reach out and let you know when is the best timing for arrivals and departures.
do i have to know spanish?
not at all! we always recommend practicing ahead of your trip, but you have two very capable colombian hosts (manue and nikka.)
